What are You Learning about Learning?

I think of learning as an art. Though some things can be simple to learn, others can be very difficult. I am learning that not all people think the same nor do all people learn the same way. I now know that some people may learn something and retain it for a long time and others can only remember what they have learned for a few short weeks.

Different people have learning styles that are dominant when it comes to learning. Some may be visual learners in which just seeing something demonstrated is enough for them to retain. Auditory learners learn better when being lectured or listening to a recording. Kinesthetic learners learn by doing. I have learned that learning can be easy for some and difficult for others.

Material that is taught should be helpful to each learning style so that everyone will have the same amount of understanding. Being flexible when it comes to learning styles is a good trait to have to ensure that you are accommodated. Learning can be as fun as you make it.

Career Goals

My goals for my technology training class are to become more competent in the use of technology and become more skilled with helping others with technology. I have an auditory learning style which means that I learn better through lectures and audio tapes. I feel that this is true to some extent, but I also feel that I learn by doing. If I am able to take a hands-on approach, I feel that I am able to get more out of it.

My major is Information Technology Services, also known as ITS. I expect to graduate at the end of the current semester in December 2008. After graduation, hopefully I will already have a job set up for me by either going to the career fair or just applying at various jobs on my own. I would really like to move out of state where I feel there are more ITS opportunities. I would like to become a Computer Systems Analyst or anything related to it. I also have expectations of getting my Microsoft Office Specialist Certification before I graduate.

I know that with my hard-working personality, my positive and motivated attitude, and my all-around fun nature, I can achieve any goal that I set forth. What you see is what you get.
